JACKSON, TENN. - Sports Plus AquaTherapies will host an aquatic therapy class titled “Aquatic Training for the Collegiate, Professional and Elite athlete” March 1 and 2 at the LIFT Wellness Center to provide its therapists with continuing education for their growing client base.

LeAnn Childress, PT, ATC/LAT, ATRIC director at West Tennessee Healthcare’s Sports Plus Rehabilitation Centers, hopes the class and others like it will bring more awareness to the community about the facilities and programs available.

“I hope physicians and the community realize we are bringing quality education to western Tennessee and we are ready to treat whatever they send us,” she said.

The class will be taught by Aquatic Therapy University who will train the therapists in sport-specific techniques for both the uninjured and recovering athlete. Childress said the techniques will allow athlete patients to continue to focus on their sport, from marathoners to volleyball teams.

“Aquatics can meet any need a person has,” she said and encourages everyone in the community, from the avid to triathlete to the weekend gardener with sore knees, to check out what their facilities offer.

Sports Plus Rehab Center has therapy pools, in Dyersburg, Humboldt, Milan and Jackson, and is opening a new one in the LIFT Wellness Center in Jackson.

“We’ve seen miracle after miracle of what aquatics can do,” Childress said.
